Vegapp Project Merger (experimental)

Merge Requirements:

• Layer System: All projects must use the same layer system definitions
• Cover Scale: All projects must use the same cover scale
• File Format: Only .veg (Vegapp XML) files are supported

Merge Behavior:

• Plots: All plots are preserved. Plot names are prefixed with their source project name (e.g., plot "1" from "Project_A" becomes "Project_A_1")
• Individuals: Individual ident values are prefixed with their source project name for traceability (e.g., "30" from "Project_A" becomes "Project_A_30"). If projects share the same name, they are automatically renamed (e.g., "Project_A", "Project_A_2") to ensure unique idents
• Observers: Observer lists are combined and deduplicated by matching first and last names
• Profile Settings: Visibility flags are combined - if a field is visible in any project, it will be visible in the merged project
• IDs: All internal IDs (_id attributes) are automatically renumbered to avoid conflicts

What Gets Merged:

• All plots with their complete data (location, date, habitat info, etc.)
• All species observations and individual measurements
• All vegetation layers
• Observer lists (deduplicated)
• Profile settings (combined visibility flags)
